What is BlueFire Games?

BlueFire Games is Joey Fedders' personal development label for creative work — a space where I build game projects, technical experiments, and collaborative prototypes with friends. It’s a creative identity that helps organize and present the projects I work on.

Over time, BlueFire has become a home for my ideas, my technical growth, and the community‑driven projects I contribute to. It represents the spirit of collaboration and experimentation that drives my work.

Skills & Tools

Who I Am

I’m a Game Developer who works across both programming and art, as well as a Producer and Project Manager. I’m currently earning a Bachelor’s in Computer Science and a Bachelor’s in 3D Digital Design & Visual Effects. I often support peers with technical guidance, and I’ve served as project lead on several game projects.

My core tools are Unreal Engine and Blender, with growing experience in Substance Painter. I also rely heavily on Notion for project management and workflow organization.

My Origin Story

My journey started at age six with Pokémon Pearl on the Nintendo DS. In 2018, I discovered programming through a Minecraft mod called ComputerCraft, following SethBling tutorials that taught me the basics of coding. That same year, I took my first programming class and immediately fell in love with the creative potential it unlocked.

In 2022, after starting college as a Computer Science major, I picked up Unreal Engine — my second “this changes everything” moment. It was then that I first dreamed of forming a studio with my friends. That dream became the seed of BlueFire Games.

In 2025, while taking coursework for my DFX minor, I had my third major breakthrough: I realized I had a passion for the art side of game development. I committed to pursuing a full Bachelor’s degree in DFX, and everything began to click — my projects accelerated, my skills sharpened, and I started producing work I was truly proud of.

Around this time, I approached professors at NKU about hosting a game jam. In 2026, NKU became a host site for the Global Game Jam and launched the first‑ever Norse Game Jam, both of which I helped plan, run, and participate in.

My Philosophy

My mission as a developer is to overcome technical challenges to realize creative visions — and to help others do the same. As a game developer specifically, my philosophy is simple: I create games I would want to play.
